My thoughts:
In collaboration with the artist Die Nowak, I co-created a satirical music video for the song "Der Schottergärtner." This project showcases a vibrant critique of gravel gardens, symbolizing the clash between artificial, lifeless spaces and the beauty of natural environments. The video visually contrasts the stark, lifeless monotony of gravel-filled landscapes with the vivid, life-affirming scenes of sunflower fields and green meadows. It serves as a visual metaphor for the preference for vibrant natural ecosystems over bleak, gray stoniness.
As the producer, B-camera operator, and colorist, I was deeply involved in shaping the project's visual narrative. Additionally, I handled the editing and conceptualized the making-of video that captures the behind-the-scenes journey. Inspired by Ulf Soltau's "Gardens of Horror," this work not only critiques but also visually entertains, weaving Die Nowak's pointed lyrics with stark visual dichotomies.
